San Diego, Calif., June 8, 2007– USA Federal Credit Union presented a $10,000 check to Rady Children’s Hospital this week on behalf of the “Credit Unions for Kids” effort by all
California credit unions. The combined campaign raised $120,000 for the first time in history.

“On behalf of USA Federal Credit Union, and all the participating California credit unions, we are really pleased to make this donation,” said Mary Cunningham, President/CEO of USA Federal Credit Union. San Diego’s share of the total raised was $10,000.

California’s first annual “Credit Unions for Kids Wine Auction” raised over $120,000. The auction, held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Pasadena drew 200 attendees from California, Oregon, Utah, and Washington and raised funds for eight Children’s Miracle Network affiliated children’s hospitals in California.

“Our goal for the auction was $100,000,” says Tony Boutelle, event co-sponsor and CEO of Credit Union Direct Lending (CUDL) in Rancho Cucamonga, California. “We were amazed after we did our preliminary totals and to find we had raised $120,000.” Boutelle added, “The generosity of credit union people and the vendors who support them is inspiring.”

The live auction began with a welcome by Boutelle and Children’s Miracle Network CEO, Jim Hall. In his remarks thanking credit unions Hall said, “Our partnership with the Credit Union Movement is a big part of our vision for the future. What you’ve done is remarkable and we are so grateful.”

“Although we wanted people to have a fantastic time at this event, it’s really about the kids,” said auction coordinator Terry Acossano. “Throughout the evening people never forgot we were doing this for the kids.”

Tom Sargent, Children’s Miracle Network incoming Chairman Board of Trustees and CEO of First Technology Credit Union agrees, “Raising money to help sick children and their families is a great motivator for all levels of the Credit Union Movement. We get as much out of it as they do.”
